SGGT Hydraulik GmbH has received orders from two customers in India for new Microline Descaling plants for the hydraulic descaling of billets.
A new MD 6000 plant will be installed at Ramkrishna Forgings Ltd. in Jamshedpur. It will descale billets up to 1500 mm long, with a square cross-section up to 140 mm and round up to 160 mm in diameter. The second machine, an MD 3000, will be in operation at Happy Forgings Ltd. in Ludhiana. The round billets have a diameter of up to 125 mm and a length of up to 900 mm.
Both manufacturers have each opted for systems with hydraulic descaling for the third time. The new plants work according to the Microline Descaling process from SGGT Hydraulik with a pressure of 320 bar. This means that they only require 6 liters per billet at Ramkrishna Forgings Ltd. and only 3 liters at Happy Forgings Ltd.
SGGT will supply the systems, including all conveyor equipment between the inductor and the drop forge, as well as the control technology, and integrate them into the existing production lines on a turnkey basis. Both descale in time with production, and transfer times are minimal thanks to the rapid transportation of the billets. In combination with the low water requirement, the temperature change of the billets is only a few Kelvin.
